Hi Guys!
I'm very glad and excited to announce that the level I submitted to the Deled level editor Xmas competition won! Info here.
Deled is an editor that keeps getting better and better, and its integration with the Irrlciht 3d engine is superb. It's a great tool.

Finally able to work on my website!

Hey guys.

After lots of time and a quite busy year I was finally able to put up the first version of my website "Telar Digital" (digital loom). The idea is to finally make out some $$$ from all these years of struggling, studying and learning all these 3d packages, programming languages, render engines, etc etc etc.

So if you feel like checking what it's all about just drop by:
Telar Digital

as a final note, and after the latest post I made on Kerkythea, I'd also like to mention a couple of other great free renderers; Indigo and Radium. It seems like the free renderer's field is getting some very serious competitors. All these 3 (Kerkythea and the before mentioned) can produce some amazing and realistic images. To top things off, Kerkythea now supports animation! The only thing is that these renderers are real resource-hogs so you'd better start saving some bucks to get a powerful rig to get these proggies running at their best!

All of them got exporters for Blender, so if you're into the free software stuff, here you'll have some powerful toys to play around with!

see ya!

Kekythea kicks butt!!!

Hey Guys!

Some quick comments. The first one is my headline topic. After reading every tut out there for Kerkythea, the free renderer, I was finally able to achieve an image I like:

It's really a pro renderer, you just got to understand how it works and you'll be up and running in no time. The community was also very supportive during the process of learning how to use it. Thanks Kt guys! :D Another good point is its integration with blender. So you really have a killer combo here to create some nice images.

And, on a quicker note; DAZ3d purchased Corel Bryce 5 and is now offering it for free until sptember 6/06. So if you want to have a nice 3d landscape creation software (with rendering and animation) don't hesitate to follow this link:

see you soon with some more news of the 3d world!

Some Irrlicht news!

Irrlicht can now load b3d files (both levels with lightmaps and animated characters) thanks to Luke who wrote a loader class for it!
You can find out more about it here:

Also, Omaremad wrote a python script that simplifies UV mapping for level editing in Blender, making it a similar process to creating content in editors like Deled, cshop or radiant. Very useful, and can be used in connection with Murphy's OCTTOOLS to get a lightmapped level running in Irrlicht. Info here:

Kerkythea animation project.

Hey Guys! Long time!

I'm glad to announce that thanks to a joined effort (of almost 15 people) Kerkythea has released its first animation (walkthru) project. For those who don't know, Kerkythea (Kt) is a free and powerful raytracing-global illumination renderer that uses unbiased algorithms similar to the ones Maxwell render uses. It has exporters for several 3d packages like 3dsmax, Gmax, sketchup, blender and soon Silo.
Read more about it here:
Kerkythea

ps. I'd also like to personally thank Joe Olivieri from the Irrlicht's developer center for supporting us and for letting us host the project files on his servers. Thanks a ton Joe!

It's great to see people from free projects helping each other!

New year, new promises

It's been a while...long while and with the new year comes a whole bunch of wishes, promises, etc etc.

Among all these good intentions and feelings I'll try to keep my blog a bit more updated, trying to show and talk about what I created it for: "3d" ,game engines (My Beloved Irrlicht) and some other rubbish that may cross my distorted mind every now and then.

so I hope to write something more interesting next time. Right now I have a wishlist to write down. ;)
